Water Heater Replacement in Woodstock

The Problem

His Hands Church needed both of its aging commercial water heaters replaced: a 47-gallon unit serving the café kitchen and a 10-gallon unit serving the office break-room. Both existing heaters were Rudd electric commercial units, and both were due for replacement.

Our Solution

Our team, led by technician Nikolas Taylor, brought in a scissor lift to access both units and completed both replacements in a single visit.

• Removed and disposed of the old 50-gallon Rudd commercial electric water heater in the café kitchen, and installed a Bradford White equivalent commercial 208v electric 47-gallon, 4.5kW utility water heater in its place
• Removed and disposed of the old 10-gallon Rudd commercial electric water heater in the office break-room, and installed a Bradford White equivalent residential 120v electric 10-gallon, 1.5kW utility water heater in its place, since a residential-grade unit provided matching hot water capacity and recovery at a lower cost (with a correspondingly reduced warranty for use in a commercial setting)
• Reused the existing galvanized drain pans, which were structurally intact, at both locations
• Reconnected both units to the existing copper lines and installed new safety expansion tanks
• Added a vacuum breaker on the kitchen heater
• Cleaned out standing water in the office break-room's drip pan
• Reconnected electrical service and tested both units for leaks
• Set both thermostats to match the previous heaters' temperature (120°)
• Used the same lift rental to complete both installations in one trip

The Result

• New 47-gallon commercial electric water heater installed and running in the café kitchen
• New 10-gallon residential-equivalent electric water heater installed and running in the office break-room
• Confirmed hot water at both locations
• Reused, intact drain pans and existing copper lines kept costs down
• Clean, dry break-room drip pan
