Tankless Water Heater Replacement in Woodstock

The Problem

Mitzi's 15-year-old Rinnai tankless water heater had been intermittently giving her cold water. After hearing about Grassroots Plumbing from her friend, Josh, she reached out to us. During an initial visit to address other plumbing concerns, our team found the unit was actively leaking. Given its age and condition, Mitzi decided it was time to replace it with a new tankless system rather than continue repairing the old one.

Our Solution

Our team installed a new Navien NPE240A2 high-efficiency condensing tankless water heater to replace the failing unit. The installation included upsizing the gas line to 3/4" before the CSST and valve, mounting the new unit to a backer board, and running the concentric vent to the outside of the home.

Additional work included:

Reconnected the unit to the existing PEX lines with new service ports and ran the T&P line outside
Mounted a condensate pump with termination routed outside the home
Installed a specialty ionizer filter to help extend the life of the tankless unit
Replaced a section of a PEX line with copper for optimal flow to the unit

Once installation was complete, we tested the system, confirmed it was producing hot water with no leaks, and set the unit to recirculate internally.
