Sewer Line Repair in Roswell

The Problem

At the Bill Johnson Community Activity Building in Roswell, the building’s sewer was holding water and not draining. Our team arrived to diagnose and solve the clog, using a sewer camera, locator, and visual observation to work through multiple existing cleanouts in the landscaped areas outside the building.

Through these cleanouts, we located the clogged section of sewer line running under a retaining wall leading up to the building. When a drain machine failed to clear the clog, we determined the sewer line itself was likely compromised.

Our Solution

With permission to excavate under the retaining wall, our team dismantled the wall and dug down to the sewer line. Once exposed, we found a previously broken fitting in the 4" ABS sewer line, capped with only a temporary plug — likely dating back to when the original retaining wall was built. The broken fitting allowed roots to grow into the pipe, clogging the line.

As a first step to a solution, we excavated and installed new exterior cleanouts to access the line for camera diagnostics and drain machine service.

Additional work included:

Replaced the broken fitting in the 4" ABS sewer line
Installed a new cleanout at the repair for easier future access
Cleared all clogs in the line
Bedded the piping and wall foundation with gravel and reconstructed the retaining wall
