The Problem

Tony reached out to us about the condition of the cast iron drain at his Acworth home. To get a clear picture of what was going on, our team started with a video inspection of the drains, which required removing the basement toilet for access. The diagnostic revealed a compromised section of sewer line between the patio and the septic tank that needed to be repaired.

Our Solution

With the diagnostic complete, our Service Experts got to work descaling and hydrojetting the cast iron building drain, along with the supporting repairs needed to do the job right.

Additional work included:

• Descaled and hydrojetted the straight section of the existing 4" cast iron building drain, greatly improving its condition
• Installed dual cleanouts for easier access to future drain cleaning and maintenance
• Removed the pavers and excavated the area to expose the piping so the drain could be properly serviced
• Removed the old concrete pipe leading up to the septic tank and installed new PVC from the cast iron drain to the tank, sealing the tank inlet with cement
• Installed gravel beneath the new piping for long-term support
• Pulled and reset the basement toilet, installing a new wax ring in the process

The pavers were temporarily set back in place, with permanent reinstallation to be handled separately. A short return trip was planned to spread additional mulch and stabilize the sidewalk area.

The Result

• Cast iron building drain descaled and hydrojetted, greatly improving its condition
• Dual cleanouts installed for easier future drain access and maintenance
• Compromised sewer line section repaired with new PVC piping and a properly sealed tank connection
• Basement toilet reset and functioning properly
